More Than Just Laundry: Our Kids Learning Area & Free Book Program

At Laundry Luv, we believe a laundromat should feel welcoming — especially for families. For many parents, laundry day means bringing the kids along. Instead of it feeling like a chore-filled errand, we wanted it to feel different. Calmer. Kinder. More meaningful.

That’s why we created our Kids Learning Area.

While parents wash and dry, children have a safe, inviting space where they can sit, explore books, and enjoy quiet time. It’s designed to encourage curiosity and imagination, not just to “keep them busy.” We know that even 45 minutes at the laundromat can become an opportunity to grow a love for reading.

But we didn’t stop there.

Every child who visits is invited to choose a book to take home with them — completely free. No sign-ups. No fine print. Just a simple gift. Because sometimes a small gesture can make a big difference.

Books build confidence. They expand vocabulary. They spark creativity. And for some families, access to books at home isn’t always guaranteed. By allowing kids to take a book home, we’re helping build home libraries one story at a time.

We’ve seen the excitement on their faces when they get to choose “their” book. We’ve watched siblings read together while clothes spin in the background. We’ve heard parents say their child asked to come back to the laundromat — not because of the machines, but because of the books.

That’s the heart behind it.

Laundry is something every family has to do. If we can turn that routine into something that blesses families, supports literacy, and creates a little more joy in the middle of a busy week, then we’ve done more than clean clothes.

We’ve created community.
